Mural Design Concept 2020
After meeting mural artist Ola Volo in the Autumn of 2020, Rhi Forsyth (formerly Maen Illustrates) was inspired to expand her skill set and try out painting a mural herself. Reaching out to local Port Moody brewery Yellow Dog Brewing Co., she prepared a Mural Pitch brochure for the brewery in the hopes of landing her first mural project.

Rhi began with a simple sketch - a dog frolicking amongst the trees and mountains. She was inspired by the nature and scenery of Rocky Point Park – located across the street from the brewery. From here, she moved forward to a digital concept sketch using her iPad Pro and Procreate. She wanted the yellow dog to stand out on a neutral background to match the brewery’s logo and branding. Rhi then refined her drawing by cleaning up the line-work and testing the colours. Once she had photographed the brewery’s wall, the final drawing was adjusted to add details and updated colours to compliment the building’s environment.
Using Photoshop, Rhi created a mock-up to place the drawing onto the wall. She then created the Mural Pitch brochure in InDesign, printed and hand delivered it to the brewery.
In the end, Yellow Dog Brewing Co. did not get back to Rhi in regard to her mural pitch.
She is excited to pursue other mural opportunities in the future and is currently available for mural commissions in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
